The SIMM (Single-Incision Mommy Makeover) Procedure: The NEW Mommy Makeover!!

The "Mommy Makeover" is not a new procedure. Pregnancy can take its toll on the female body causing breast deflation, tummy laxity and stretch marks. There are two parts to the traditional "Mommy Makeover": (1) an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to tighten the abdominal wall, remove the excess skin and markedly decrease the presence of stretch marks, and (2) either a breast augmentation or breast lift. During pregnancy the breasts swell - sometimes markedly - in preparation for the baby and milk production. After breast feeding stops, however, the breast tissue involutes and the overall volume deflates.

The problem with the "traditional" Mommy Makeover is the fact that with two different procedures...there are two sets of scars, one on the abdomen and one on the breasts. The SIMM, or the Single-Incision Mommy Makeover, Procedure is a term coined by Dr. Danielpour and Dr. Layke that refers to a combination breast augmentation with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). The abdominoplasty incision is used to perform the breast augmentation as well. By utilizing this technique, there are no scars placed on the breast; two procedures through a single incision!

A complete tummy tuck is performed and breast implants (saline or silicone) are placed in a submuscular (under the pectoralis muscle) or subglandular (under the breast tissue) position under direct visualization [See Figures 1-6]. Although it is technically more challenging, the direct result is a completely natural-appearing breast augmentation without any scar to indicate that an enhancement was performed.

Indications

  • Healthy patients that are candidates for breast augmentation AND abdominoplasty
  • Breasts without significant ptosis (sagging); breasts that are minimally deflated after pregnancy
  • Patients who meet the above criteria and wish to perform two procedures in a single setting

Contraindications

  • Patients with multiple comorbidities (diabetes, heart disease, or any other condition rendering the patient as high-risk for a surgical procedure)
  • Patients with significant ptosis (sagging); these patients require a mastopexy (lift)

The single most important factor in successful cosmetic surgery is the selection of your plastic surgeon. Combining artistry and science, Dr. Layke and Dr. Danielpour prefer a refined, natural look, not an artificial operated appearance. Good surgical sculpture should look good in motion and from multiple perspectives, not just the view of a single still photograph.

Two highly trained surgeons with training from Chicago, Miami and New York, offer you a boutique plastic surgery practice with an emphasis on personalized and individual care. Both surgeons evaluate and operate on each individual patient, offering a comprehensive and complete approach. Dr. Layke and Dr. Danielpour believe in "Care without compromise," and will go to any length to assure your safety and satisfaction. This includes providing patient accomodations and transportation as needed, postoperative nursing care and personalized home doctor visits when indicated.
